Description

Arena has been a major provider of swimwear for over 35 years and is currently headquartered in Tolentio, Italy. The company was the first swimwear manufacturer to engage in textile and fluid dynamics research.

Jammers took over as the preferred type of male race swimsuits when FINA banned full-body suits in 2010. The jammer swimsuit needs to comply with strict FINA rules before they will authorize them for competition. The swimsuit may cover the swimmer’s upper thighs but not their knees and must be made from a woven textile.

We have seen a lot of developments in swimwear fabric over the last few years. The majority of enhancements have been dedicated to creating a swimsuit that is lightweight and water-repellant. That being the case, the fabric is one of the most essential things to take into account when selecting a swim jammer.

The Powerskin ST Jammer is made from a fabric composed of 71% Polyamide and 29% Elastane, called X-Raptor. The fabric, according to Arena, offers superior hydro dynamic properties and very good durability in chlorinated water. The R-EVO and XP jammers use Arena’s Z-Raptor material, which is a higher-end material.

In combination with delivering better material, high-end swimsuit manufacturers are also using inventive manufacturing methods that are also focused on reducing the suit’s drag factor as much as possible. By employing bonding procedures, the traditional stitches are removed from the suit, thus further reducing drag. As with many entry-level suits on the market, the Powerskin ST Jammer does not offer bonded seams and uses stitching,

A last thing to consider when selecting a swim jammer is the suit’s fit. Using optimal materials and manufacturing processes, racing jammers attempt to compress the swimmer’s muscles. In addition to helping to make the swimmer much more streamline, this compression helps with oxygen circulation and helps the swimmer’s recovery. Arena’s X-Raptor fabric deliver good compression, which reduces surface and form drag.

The swimsuit has been sanctioned for competition by FINA and NCAA. The Powerskin ST Jammer is only available in black. The women’s equivalent of this suits is Arena’s Powerskin ST Full Body Short Leg Open Suit and the Powerskin ST Classic Suit.

The Powerskin ST Jammer is Arena’s entry-level swim jammer. They also offer the Powerskin R-EVO Jammer and the Powerskin XP Jammer. The XP Jammer uses the Z-Raptor fabric while the R-EVO Jammer uses Z-Raptor+ material.

This suit is great! Ive worn tyr and speedo tech suots, but they arent better than this! The price is just right too. However, like most tech suits, you should go down a size.
